Lamborghini Huracan Performante destroyed in gas station fire

A Lamborghini Huracan Performante was destroyed in a gas station fire in Kirkwood, Missouri, late last week as it was returning from the Goldrush Rally. The blaze was reportedly started when another car, a Chrysler minivan according to bystander video, drove off from a pump with the fuel hose still inserted, causing gasoline to spray on to the Huracan. As the gasoline came into contact with the engine bay of the Huracan, the car ignited, all while the owner was inside the gas station itself.
A bystander who had been filming the two cars sitting at the gas pumps actually captured the moment that the Chrysler minivan ripped out the fuel hose on video.
"The blue Lamborghini pulled up right behind me (red performante)," the owner of the red Huracan wrote in a Facebook post. "He decided to go in to get us waters and while I was trying to pay for my gas at the pump there was a card error, so I also went inside. As soon as we walked in, we saw a massive fireball out the window. We all ran out of the gas station to the other side of the road."
"While talking to police and firefighters a man ran up and said he saw what happened," the owner of the red Huracan added. "He was recording the cars to show his friends and caught a guy driving off with a gas pump still in his car. The pump sprayed fuel directly into the blue Huracan’s engine bay and it instantly ignited."
Firefighters arrived on the scene quickly and put out the blaze, according to Fox 2 Now St. Louis. The blue Lamborghini suffered heavy damage, while the red Lambo was only covered with ash and other small debris from the fire. Luckily, no one was hurt in the fire.
The Kirkwood police are calling this an accident, but the damage will be pricey when it comes to the gas station and the Lamborghini: A Huracan Performante starts at about $275,000.
